Kit Car Approvals

KCA is a subsidiary of Exo Sports Cars Ltd and as such we have experience in every aspect of building kit cars. We have built dozens of vehicles over the last 30 years and all of these have now become fully road legal not only in the UK but on several of the world’s continents.

From rolling chassis to perfectly finished

Building a kit car means committing 100 hours or more of your spare time to carefully assembling the object of your desire. Whilst some builders complete this task with ease and present us with a car, well prepared for the IVA test, some others simply run out of time or have a lifestyle change that means they are unable to finish their build themselves.

We will undertake finishing your kit and making it road legal from any stage of build thus your dream car will be completed and thrill of driving it on the road will begin

The DVSA IVA test

It’s all about safety so embrace it.

Three letters that strike fear into the heart of any kit car builder, IVA stands for Individual Vehicle Approval and is just a simple and thorough test, recognizing that your car is fully roadworthy.

In the beginning, the early days of kit cars in the UK, all that was required to have your car accepted as roadworthy was an engineers certificate. VOSA, as they were then known, decided that all non mass-produced vehicles and imported vehicles should comply to a single standard, thus the SVA test was introduced in the 90’s. This improved kit car safety enormously and cars assembled from random piles of worn out second hand components were effectively outlawed. The SVA test evolved into the IVA test and continues to ensure the safety of kit car builders and other road users alike.
